How to spike and block
Last verified 2026-10-27 · Cursor aim · block-break unconfirmed
Step by step
- Approach the set
Read the landing ring and move into range. Community notes warn that sprinting into a jump carries momentum, so avoid drifting beyond the ball.
- Charge and jump
Hold Space to charge, then release to jump. The September key list describes higher jumps at full charge; current build prompts take priority.
- Choose your target
Move the cursor to the intended landing spot in the opposing court. Coordinate with the setter rather than assuming a published universal power formula.
- Attack or block in the air
Left-click while airborne to spike. On defence, right-click in the air to block. Community notes say a block does not spend a team touch; block-break thresholds remain unconfirmed.
Four steps that match the notes
I stacked the playtest key list, the Steam power-hit thread, and SharpV’s chapter times. Left click in the air is the spike. The cursor, not a power meter with a published formula, picks the direction. The cloud-court screenshot is the clearest official look at a high ball path.
Hold Space to charge the jump. A full charge goes higher. If you jump out of a sprint, you keep that speed. That is useful on a long approach and fatal when the set is tight. Stop or strafe before you leave the floor if the ball is close.
The set decides the swing
The Steam thread says a strong hit is not the hitter’s click alone. Height and pace come from the set. If you are waiting on a quick, the setter has to deliver the full-charge ball from the set page. If the set is late, swing a safer line or keep the rally alive.
SharpV puts spiking at 0:33 and blocking at 3:51. Those stamps are a video index, not frame data we measured. Dive recovery sits at 5:31 if the block is late and the ball is behind you.
Blocking, and the gap
Right click in the air to block. The beginner notes say that touch is free: it does not spend one of the three. You can block and still run a full offense if the ball stays on your side.
A player asked for the exact rule when a block is broken. The thread has the question and no developer answer. This page will not invent a break threshold, a color, or a “purple spike” move. When a patch note defines it, the sentence can be replaced.

Jump with a Space charge and press left click in the air. Direction follows the cursor. A sprint jump keeps momentum and can carry you past the ball.
How do you block?
Right click in the air. Community notes say a block does not count as one of the three team touches.
